The news, nothing but the news?

Rupert Murdoch has been a shining light amid the generally dark anti-Israel patch of commentary on the Middle East.  But is this going to change?

Reports indicate that Prince Ahlwaleed of Saudi Arabia, a nephew of the Saudi King, and the 22nd richest man, is increasing his percentage interest in News Corp, as reported here.

Alwaleed is already the second largest stakeholder in News Corp, with 5.7 percent of the shares of the media company, quite apart from his other interests including in academia.

Reminds one of the old Jewish joke

– A Jewish Londoner was riding on the London Underground reading an Arab newspaper. A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same underground car, noticed this strange phenomenon. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader.

“Moishe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper?” Moishe replied, “I used to read the Jewish newspaper, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted, Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty. So I switched to the Arab newspaper. Now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world. The news is so much better!”

  1. Thanks to What a great blog. You draw our attention to some very important issues and articles. One can get depressed, but it’s important to keep fighting. Israel gets support from unexpected places, like Trade Unions. Let’s hope the Australian continues to print the truth about Israel.
