We previously reported about an article in the New York Review of Books from Peter Beinart. He suggested that U.S. Jews were less supportive of Israel because of the rightward drift of Israeli society and politics.
The evidence that Beinart provided has been challenged – so it is not at all clear that U.S. Jews are less supportive of Israel. So any further discussion is limited by ones reliance on weak data. Be that as it may, the next stage of the argument is a “hypothetical” or, assuming the evidence if correct what do we make of it.
Foxman head of the U.S. ADL has provided a cogent reply to Beinart, who in turn was given the opportunity to respond here. The letters are also worthwhile reading.
