Movement at the Arab Station

Here is an interesting article from the Wall Street Journal discussing the evolving US strategy on “regime change” with the header that “The Obama administration is settling on a Middle East strategy: help keep longtime allies who are willing to reform in power, even if that means the full democratic demands of their newly emboldened citizens might have to wait.”   Hilary Clinton has evidently been pushing this positive line, which is supposedly now supported by the White House, especially since it had looked threatening that Bahrain might fall into the Iranian orbit while following the live train.

Meanwhile, hopefully Netanyahu will be able to withstand the massive pressure he is undoubtably under .. and will continue to do what is right for Israel.  The Palestinian street is quiet, with Abbas’ credibility having received a recent boost courtesy of the UN veto. Syria is also relatively quiet, and it would be disastrous if any Israeli softening on the Golan would happen.
